Our Story

GRENNATT began long before it became a brand.

Growing up on a family farm, founder Lynn Joseph developed a deep reverence for the healing power of plants. Raised by a mother whose knowledge of traditional herbal remedies had been passed down through generations, Lynn learned from an early age that nature was often the first place to turn for comfort and care. Whenever someone in the family wasn't feeling well, a pot of herbal tea was often the first response. Before long, Lynn found herself doing the same—gathering herbs, preparing teas, and finding genuine joy in caring for others through nature. Whether tending to an injured animal or comforting a loved one with a warm cup of tea, those simple moments nurtured a lifelong appreciation for the remarkable gifts of nature.

That connection remained with her into adulthood. Even today, preparing herbal teas and turning to nature's gifts is often her first instinct whenever she or someone she loves isn't feeling well. Nature wasn't simply an interest—it became part of the way she lived.

Years later, that lifelong passion evolved into a deeply personal pursuit of answers.

From the time she was a young child, Lynn's hair had been chemically relaxed because of her extremely tender scalp. She continued relaxing her hair for years until she began experiencing severe migraines that gradually affected her quality of life. Determined to restore her health, she began researching the ingredients commonly found in hair relaxers and their potential long-term effects. Believing they could be contributing to her migraines, she made the difficult decision to stop relaxing her hair and embrace her natural texture.

The transition was far more difficult than she expected.

As her natural hair grew alongside her relaxed hair, caring for two different textures became increasingly challenging. Her hair began breaking in large sections, leaving thinning areas and bald spots that refused to grow back. What began as a desire to restore her health soon became a search to restore her hair—and, with it, her confidence.

Like many others facing hair loss, Lynn tried a variety of products that promised to encourage hair growth. While some offered hope, none felt like the right solution for her. On several occasions, she experienced side effects that ranged from headaches to increased scalp sensitivity—something that was especially discouraging given the very reason she had begun this journey. Rather than settling, she became even more determined to find an approach that aligned with both her body's needs and her lifelong belief in the restorative power of nature.

She returned to the place she had trusted since childhood.

Drawing from the appreciation for nature she had carried throughout her life, she immersed herself in researching botanical ingredients and the science behind them. She studied ingredients such as rosemary, caffeine, saw palmetto, and other botanicals, carefully learning how they could work together to support a healthier scalp environment. She spent countless hours studying, testing, refining, and creating formulations for herself—not with the intention of building a company, but simply hoping to restore her own hair and confidence.

Over time, she began seeing the transformation she had hoped for.

The experience changed more than her hair. It renewed her confidence, strengthened her appreciation for the wisdom of nature, and deepened her conviction that thoughtfully formulated botanical ingredients, supported by scientific understanding, could make a meaningful difference in people's lives.

Encouraged by the results she experienced and inspired by her faith, Lynn felt called to share what she had learned with others walking similar journeys. What began as one woman's search for answers became the foundation of GRENNATT.
